Beaverton Oregon is one of the thriving communities that surround our Tigard OR town. The city of Beaverton got its name from the Native Americans that once occupied the area.
The established a village along the creeks and called the village, Chakeipi which meant “a place for the beaver”. The early settlers of this area named it Beaverdam and it was later changed to Beaverton.
In 1868 a railroad was built into the town and the rich land gave way to farming. The City of Beaverton was officially incorporated, and the population was only 400 people.
Today, Beaverton, which is located in the heart of the Tualatin Valley, between Mt. Hood and the Oregon coast, is just seven miles west of the City of Portland OR.
Beaverton has a rich culture of diversity as one in three of its residents is identified as a person of color.
There are many parks in Beaverton as well as 30 miles of hiking trails and a 25 mile network of bike paths. There is plenty of shopping and entertainment opportunities that expand throughout the city.
Beaverton also is home to a charming and eclectic downtown that is a combination of turn of the century and mid-century architectural landmarks that are now occupied by shops and restaurants.
Beaverton hosts many arts and multicultural festivals, outdoor plays and concerts that bring together the eleven distinct neighborhoods which bring the community together all year long.
Throughout the years, the City of Beaverton has be recognized and awarded for the best bicycling community, best place to raise kids, top suburb for retirement, top green community and one of the safest cities in the Pacific Northwest.
