The early history of the town of Cedar Mill is unclear, but it has a long and colorful history. During the 1800s, John Quincy Adams Young and William R. Everson built a sawmill in Cornell. The mill stood next to Cedar Mill Creek and was powered by a large overshot water wheel below the falls.
