About TruDentistry of Tigard
Welcome to TruDentistry of Tigard, where your oral health and satisfaction are our top priorities. We understand that visiting the dentist may not be everyone’s favorite activity, but we’re here to change that perception and provide you with a warm and friendly dental experience.
At TruDentistry of Tigard, we recommend that our patients schedule regular visits at least twice a year. These routine appointments are crucial because they allow us to closely monitor your dental health and address any issues before they become major problems.
During your dental visit, our skilled hygienist will take X-rays, enabling Dr. Nguyen, to detect any potential cavities. By scheduling regular appointments, any cavities we find are typically small and easily treatable with a simple filling. However, when routine visits are missed, cavities can grow and not even be noticed, leading to more extensive treatments like crowns or root canals if they progress deeper into the tooth structure.
During your routine visits, you’ll start by seeing our friendly hygienist, who will measure your gum and bone levels. If your gum and bone levels are healthy, typically measuring three millimeters or less, you’ll proceed with a basic cleaning known as an adult prophy. This cleaning is typically completed during the same appointment. Following the cleaning, our dentist will perform a thorough examination to ensure your oral health is in optimal condition.
For patients with deeper pocket depths and signs of bone loss, usually measuring five millimeters or more, our hygienist may recommend a deep cleaning, known as scaling and root planing. This procedure involves a more comprehensive cleaning of the deeper pockets, which will require a separate appointment to ensure adequate time for a thorough cleaning.
Many wonder, is the deep cleaning really necessary? The answer is yes, it is. If we only perform a basic cleaning on pockets that are five millimeters deep, leaving two millimeters untreated, bacteria and plaque will remain, leading to potential complications like periodontal abscesses or infections. Our goal is to provide you with the appropriate care and time needed to address these issues and prevent further complications. If your pockets exceed six millimeters, we may need to refer you to our trusted network of periodontal specialists who can help you maintain a healthy oral environment.
As dental providers, we are required to participate in continuing education. But for us, it’s not just a requirement; it’s my passion. Staying up to date with the latest advancements in dentistry allows the team to improve our skills and offer you the best possible care. We constantly seek out courses and new technologies that enhance our clinical abilities, particularly in restorative dentistry and full-mouth treatments. We believe in not only achieving aesthetic results but also ensuring your teeth function properly, allowing you to eat, speak, and smile confidently.
Your trust and satisfaction are invaluable to us. We appreciate the time you take to visit our office, and we strive to make your experience comfortable and enjoyable. If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to reach out. We look forward to serving you and helping you maintain a healthy, beautiful smile for years to come.
Our Dental Services
Invisalign
We are very proud to offer the Invisalign system to our patients. Invisalign is a product that uses Smart Track technology to straighten teeth without the use of braces. What is so nice about Invisalign is that the aligners that are used in the teeth straightening process are clear and people do not even notice that you have them on. As you wear them, over time, they move the teeth to the desired position for a more aesthetic look. This technology had revolutionized the way dentists can now straighten teeth.
Zoom Teeth Whitening
The best teeth whitening system available to dentists is the Zoom Teeth Whitening System. In our practice, we believe in only utilizing the very best in dental equipment and that is why we offer the Zoom system. This system offers the best results, hands down. The Zoom teeth whitening service is an in-office treatment that takes less than a hour. But the best part is that the results are very long lasting. When you book a Zoom treatment with us, you will also receive a take home kit that you can use to touch up as needed. The teeth whitening system is safe and very effective even for people with sensitive teeth.
Dental Veneers
Dental veneers offer a magical transformation of your smile. If you have teeth that are stained and no amount of teeth whitening will help, veneers can come to the rescue. If you have a gap or a chipped tooth, veneers can help with that too. The treatment plan for veneers is very straight forward. It is a simple process that offers beautiful results.
Dental Implants
If you have a missing tooth, there is nothing more effective than a dental implant. Dental implants offer the closest thing you can get to a natural tooth. The process will take some time, but the results are worth it. The dental implant treatment plan begins with a tritium root place into the gum line and will act as the root of the tooth. We use our state-of-the-art scanner to create a crown that fits perfectly with the abutment and the surrounding teeth. It is also important to note that we use zirconia crowns when making your implant as this is the strongest crown material available.
Zirconia Crowns
In our dental office, excellence is not just a claim, but a commitment. We take great pride in providing the highest quality dental care, and that means investing in ongoing dental education, top-of-the-line equipment, and the finest materials for our practice. Our unwavering choice for dental crowns is none other than Zirconia, the highest quality crown material in the dental industry.
Zirconia stands out as the top of the line of dental crown materials available today. Its durability is unparalleled, ensuring a long-lasting solution for our patients. Not only that, but Zirconia crowns can be expertly color-matched, seamlessly blending in with your natural teeth, and they boast exceptional strength.
When it comes to addressing missing teeth, bridges are a common and effective dental procedure. To guarantee the best results for our patients, we exclusively use Zirconia for our crowns and bridges. This exceptional material’s reputation for durability is unmatched, giving you peace of mind for years to come.
Unlike some practices, we prioritize supporting our local community. That’s why we work closely with a trusted dental lab right here in our area, instead of outsourcing our work overseas. By doing so, we maintain greater control over the quality of our dental restorations and support local craftsmanship.
Additionally, we take advantage of cutting-edge technology, such as the state-of-the-art iTero system, to ensure precise and comfortable dental experiences. This commitment to advanced techniques and materials allows us to provide the highest standard of care for all our valued patients.
At our dental office, you can trust that your dental health and satisfaction are at the forefront of everything we do. Our dedication to excellence, combined with our use of top-quality materials and technologies, sets us apart as a leading dental practice you can rely on for all your dental needs. Welcome to a new era of exceptional dental care.
Composite Dental Filling
At Trudentistry of Tigard our commitment to quality dental care is very evident by the materials we use. Dental fillings is no exception. . Not all dental fillings are created equal. That is why at TruDentistry we only use composite material dental fillings. These fillings are tooth colored and offer the most natural look possible. This filling material is not only natural looking but it is also extremely durable.
Dental Sealants
We focus on preventive dentistry as much as possible. We want our patients to have great check-ups every time. That is why we encourage parents to bring their children in and have a dental sealant treatment. These sealants are so easy to apply and protect the chewing surfaces of children’s teeth. This limits the exposure to decay by sealing off the pits and groves which provides a protective barrier.
Mouth Guard
Do you wind up with a sore jaw or a headache in the morning? If so, you are not alone. People who grind their teeth while they sleep can create all sorts of issues. Most importantly griding your teeth while you sleep can wear down your teeth. People who grid in their sleep can have 80 times more wear on their teeth than people who don’t. A simple mouth guard that we create to fit your mouth perfectly, can protect your teeth from this problem. It is a custom fit and it is made from a soft pliable material.
Fluoride Treatment
Fluoride treatments are ideal for children, but they are also good for adults as well. Fluoride is a mineral that is known for strengthening teeth. Although it cannot reverse cavities, it can go a long way in preventing them. Exposing children early on to fluoride treatments will help protect their teeth and provide protection and prevention from tooth decay.
Oral Cancer Screening
At Trudentistry we check for oral cancer every time you come in for a check-up. This only take a minute to check because of our extraordinary oral cancer detector tool, theVelScope VX. This remarkable tool helps us with early oral cancer detection. It helps us see any abnormalities in the mucosal tissues of the lips, mouth, and upper throat area. Early detection is key so we always recommend that you visit us at least twice a year.
Routine Hygiene and Exam
Our goal for all our patients is to maintain good oral health. Preventive care is so important. That is why we recommended a visit to our dental office at least twice a year. Your visit will include a full dental exam, and a prophylaxis cleaning with one of our highly trained dental hygienists. With these visits, you allow us to catch oral health issues early.
Dental Extractions
We place such a strong emphasis on preventive care because we know that when oral health is neglected, it can lead to tooth loss. However, tooth removal can also be the result of trauma or even overcrowding of the teeth. We hope you never need this service but if you do, please know that you will be in capable hands. If you are in pain, we will address that first. Once a tooth is removed, it is very important to follow all instructions post-extraction.
Dental Emergencies
We are very proactive when it comes to dental emergencies. Elevating your pain will be what we address first. Dental emergencies can arise from a broken tooth, a lost filling or crown or an abscess just to name a few causes. We will get you in the dental chair as soon as possible and get you back to normal. We never want to see anyone suffer from dental pain, so call us right away if you have a dental emergency.
Scaling Root Planing and Periodontal Maintenance
When you come in for a dental exam, we will measure you gum and bone levels. Anything over 3 millimeters will not be reachable with a regular dental cleaning. To remove the bacteria at levels higher than 3 millimeters, we will need to go deeper to prevent periodontal abscesses. At the higher levels, your teeth’s stability is compromised. So it will be important to keep up with the deep cleaning until the gums return to a healthy state.

An Interview With Dr. Nguyen
Interviewer: What initially sparked your interest in dentistry?
TT Nguyen DMD: From a young age, I was drawn to the healthcare field. I considered pharmacy, medicine, and dentistry as potential career paths. To explore my options, I decided to shadow my current dentists. I started working as a sterilizer in their office for three years while attending college, which gave me the opportunity to witness firsthand how dentistry allows you to provide care for patients while maintaining a balanced lifestyle. It was the combination of caring for patients and having a fulfilling personal life that ultimately led me to choose dentistry.
Interviewer: It’s fascinating how finding that balance between personal and professional life can significantly impact one’s overall happiness and success. Could you share more about your educational journey and the time you spent in dental school?
TT Nguyen DMD: Certainly. After completing my four-year biology major in college, I applied to Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) and was accepted into dental school. I dedicated an additional four years to complete my dental education at OHSU. It was an intensive and rewarding period of learning that equipped me with the necessary knowledge and skills to become a dentist.
Interviewer: Transitioning from being an associate to owning your own practice is quite a significant step. Can you elaborate on how you ended up running your own business?
TT Nguyen DMD: It’s an interesting story. I initially joined Dr. Weinberg’s practice as an associate. However, due to limited availability, I could only work there one day a week. Surprisingly, Dr. Weinberg and I developed a great working relationship, and she decided to bring me on full-time. We quickly realized that our collaboration was a perfect fit, both personally and professionally. In 2019, as Dr. Weinberg expressed her desire to slow down, we discussed the possibility of me taking over the practice while she stayed on as an associate. We essentially flipped roles, ensuring a smooth transition for our patients without any surprises. It has been a rewarding journey, and I am grateful for the opportunity to provide care to the patients I’ve come to know and appreciate.
Interviewer: Creating your patient base must have been a significant undertaking. How did you establish your own patients?
TT Nguyen DMD: We see both existing and new patients on a regular basis. For new patients who haven’t been seen by another dentist in our practice, I am usually the only dentist they encounter. It has been exciting for me to establish my identity as a provider and to represent my own practice. Dr. Weinberg has done an exceptional job building this practice over the past 30 years, and I am honored to continue that legacy. It has been a fulfilling journey, constantly evolving and striving to improve the experience for our patients, staff, and myself. I am fully invested in making this a wholesome experience for everyone involved.
Interviewer: Taking over a practice at the beginning of a pandemic must have presented some unique challenges. How has it been running your own business for the past three years?
TT Nguyen DMD: Yes, I officially took over the practice in 2020, right at the start of the pandemic. It certainly added unexpected challenges, but we quickly adapted and implemented safety protocols to ensure the well-being of our patients and staff. Despite the difficult circumstances, I am grateful for the opportunity to provide dental care and support our community during these uncertain times. It has been a tremendous learning experience, and I am proud of how our practice has thrived and evolved despite the obstacles we faced.
Interviewer: Establishing a mission statement for your dental office is important. Could you share the mission statement of your practice?
TT Nguyen DMD: Absolutely. Throughout my career, my main focus has always been on patient care. However, as I’ve grown older and gained more experience, I’ve come to realize the crucial aspects that are a must for me. It starts with truly listening to the patient and understanding their reasons for seeking dental care. When I visit a healthcare provider with a concern, the first thing I want is for them to listen to me and comprehend the underlying reason I am there. I make it a priority to provide the same level of attentiveness to my patients. By combining their concerns with my clinical expertise, I aim to create a simple treatment plan that addresses their specific needs and aligns with their goals. My mission is to ensure that patients feel heard and to provide the care they seek. Additionally, I strive to alleviate any fear or apprehension that may be present in new patients by fostering clear and open communication. I want every patient to feel informed and comfortable throughout their dental experience.
Interviewer: It’s evident that patient care is at the forefront of your practice. What else would you like people to know about your dental office?
TT Nguyen DMD: Our practice is a true family-oriented environment. We see patients of all ages, from grandparents to parents and children. One of the things I love about our practice is the opportunity to develop long-term relationships with our patients. We recognize their faces, and our conversations go beyond just teeth. We discuss various aspects of their lives, making the experience personal and meaningful. At times, we are quite busy with routine cleanings and check-ups. To better serve our patients, I have plans to expand our team by bringing on another hygienist. This will allow us to meet the needs of our patients more efficiently and provide timely care without having them scheduled months in advance. Our goal is to support our patients comprehensively and ensure they receive the attention and care they deserve.
Interviewer: If someone in the community hasn’t been to your dental office before but is seeking dental care, what message would you like to convey to them?
TT Nguyen DMD: I would like to extend an invitation to come and experience our friendly practice. We genuinely strive to make the patient experience all about them. We understand that visiting the dentist can be intimidating, especially when it’s a new dentist you haven’t met before. However, I want to assure anyone with hesitation that my team and I are dedicated to providing the best possible care. We listen attentively to our patients’ concerns and make every effort to create a comfortable and welcoming environment. If there are any reservations or doubts, I encourage them to come in and see how friendly and accommodating we truly are.
Interviewer: Your practice seems to offer a wide range of dental services. Could you elaborate on the types of treatments and care available at your practice?
TT Nguyen DMD: Certainly. At TruDentistry of Tigard, we are a general dentistry practice, which means we provide comprehensive dental services. Our offerings include routine exams and cleanings to maintain oral health. If we discover cavities, we discuss appropriate treatments such as fillings or crowns. We also offer cosmetic dentistry services, including Invisalign for those seeking teeth straightening options. Additionally, we perform simple root canals to alleviate pain and provide relief. However, there are certain procedures, either due to complexity or specialization, that we do not provide in-house. For such cases, we have a trusted network of providers, including oral surgeons, orthodontists, endodontists specializing in root canal therapy, periodontists for gum-related issues, and TMJ specialists. We are committed to guiding our patients through their dental journey, ensuring they receive the best care from start to finish.
Interviewer: Thank you for providing such detailed insights into your practice. Is there anything else you would like to add?
TT Nguyen DMD: I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to all our patients for choosing TruDentistry of Tigard. Your trust and satisfaction mean the world to us. We genuinely appreciate the time you take to visit our office, and we are dedicated to making your experience as comfortable and enjoyable as possible. If you ever have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us. We look forward to serving you and helping you maintain a healthy, beautiful smile for many years to come.
