Tigard is a city located in Washington County, Oregon. As of 2007, it was the 12th largest city in the state. It is part of the Portland metropolitan area. The city was incorporated in 1961. It is located south of Beaverton and north of Tualatin. Tigard is home to several high-profile companies.

Area 3 includes the historic Greenburg neighborhood. Area 4 is sometimes referred to as North Tigard. Area 5 is the area around Interstate 5.

The city has a population of around 51,335 people. That makes it the twelfth largest city in the state. While the majority of residents are Caucasian, there is also a large Hispanic population and 7% Asian residents. The median age of residents is 36.3 years for males and 38.7 for females.

In 1907, the Oregon Electric Railway arrived in Tigard. The train depot was located on Taylor’s Ferry Road, a mile north of the Tigardville General Store. The name was changed by the railroad to Tigard after the town grew. At the time, the town had a general store, razor shop, and hotel.

There are a number of attractions in the city, including a ten-barrel brewery. Originally a garage, the Cooper Mountain Ale Works now has a downtown location on Southwest Main Street. The brewery features twenty handcrafted brews and house-made specialties. It also hosts live music every Thursday night and is home to the Oregon Bluegrass Association.
