In Tigard, there are many local attractions and restaurants. Many of them offer Mexican, American, and Middle Eastern cuisine. Tigard also has numerous shopping malls. Located just south of Portland, Tigard is home to approximately 50,000 people. It is home to Bridgeport Village and Washington Square, two tax-free shopping destinations. It also has the only professional musical theater in the region. The city also has easy access to the Tualatin River, which flows through Washington County.

The city has an average annual rainfall of 41 inches. The climate in Tigard is generally cool in the summer with temperatures in the mid-50s to low 80s. During the winter, temperatures typically drop to the low 30s. It is the 12th largest city in Oregon but still maintains a small-town atmosphere. Despite its size, Tigard is home to good jobs and good schools.

In 1961, the Tigard Chamber of Commerce revived the idea of incorporation. Industrial committee chairman Elton Phillips reported that taxing districts made it difficult for new industries to be created in the city. In September 1961, voters approved the incorporation of Tigard. At that time, the city had a population of 1,749 people. In November, Elton Phillips was elected mayor, and the city was officially incorporated.

Tigard’s historic downtown is a great place to spend time. You can find great shopping, dining, and drinking in the area. In addition to that, the city has great transit connections. A portion of the population uses public transportation, which benefits the entire community by reducing air pollution and traffic. Tigard is also home to numerous parks and trails.

In 1915, the population of Tigard was 300, but by 1928, it had grown to 328. This rapid growth slowed following a major fire in 1931. At that time, a prominent businessman argued for incorporation and real fire protection. While it was still largely unincorporated, Tigard relied on the Portland Fire Department until World War II.

The city is also home to several community gardens. The city has three community gardens – the Greenfield Community Garden and the Jack Park Community Garden. Additionally, it is planning to invest even more in parks and recreation. Downtown Tigard also offers shopping, dining, and a historic district. The area is home to several public art projects.
