World Forestry Center

Located near the Oregon Zoo in Washington Park, the World Forestry Center Oregon is a nonprofit educational institution. It was founded in 1964 as the Western Forestry Center, and opened its current building in 1971. Founded by a group of conservationists, it offers a wide variety of educational programs and exhibits for all ages. This center is located at 4033 SW Canyon Rd, Portland, OR 97221.

The World Forestry Center Oregon focuses on the science of trees and forests, with interactive exhibits that teach visitors about the importance of preserving forests. The center also offers train and jeep rides for guests to explore the history and science of trees. The center even has a 42-ton Lima Shay locomotive, named Peggy, which hauled billions of feet of logs before 1950.

The World Forestry Center Oregon is a 20,000 square foot museum that educates visitors about forests and trees around the world. Visitors will discover the importance of forests for rivers and streams, and learn about sustainable forestry practices. The World Forestry Center also operates two working forests. The World Forestry Center Oregon is also home to the World Forest Institute, which started as an information services division of the World Forestry Center.

The Tillamook Forest Center features a year-round indoor/outdoor environment, interactive exhibits, and innovative programs. It educates visitors about the forests in the area and about the history and culture of the Tillamook Forest. The Tillamook Forest Center also features a historical replica of the fire lookout tower and a pedestrian suspension bridge. Its architecture is reminiscent of the early Oregon homesteads.
